چکیده

Gas and oil reservoirs have been the focus of modeling efforts for decades as an attempt to locate zones with high volumes. Certain subsurface layers and layer sequences, such as those containing shale, are known to be impermeable to gas and/or liquid. Oil and natural gas then become trapped by these layers, making it possible to drill wells to reach the supply, and extract for use. The drilling of these wells, however, is costly. In this paper, we utilize multi-agent machine learning and classifier combination to learn rock facies sequences from wireline well log data. The paper focuses on how to construct a successful set of classifiers, which periodically collaborate, to increase the classification accuracy. Utilizing multiple, heterogeneous collaborative learning agents is shown to be successful for this classification problem. Utilizing the Multi-Agent Collaborative Learning Architecture, 84.5% absolute accuracy was obtained, an improvement of about 6.5% over the best results achieved by the Kansas Geological Survey with the same data set. A number of heuristics are presented for constructing teams of multiple collaborative classifiers for predicting rock facies. & 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Prediction of pore facies using GMDH-type neural networks: a case study from the South Pars gas field, Persian Gulf basin

The current study proposes a two-step approach for pore facies characterization in the carbonate reservoirs with an example from the Kangan and Dalanformations in the South Pars gas field. In the first step, pore facies were determined based on Mercury Injection Capillary Pressure (MICP) data incorporation with the Hierarchical Clustering Analysis (HCA) method. In the next step, polynomial meta...

Paleoenvironmental Reconstruction of Miocene Surma Succession in the Well Rashidpur # 04 of Bengal Basin Using Log Facies Interpretation

Detailed log facies studies of Miocene succession in the well Rashidpur-04, Rashidpur structure, Surma Basin were carried out by integrating wireline log and limited core sample data in order to reconstruct the paleoenvironments of deposition. Based on the analysis of the log motifs, grain size, sand/shale ratio and major change in gamma ray log motifs, two major depositional sequences were ide...

A Review of Reservoir Rock Typing Methods in Carbonate Reservoirs: Relation between Geological, Seismic, and Reservoir Rock Types

Carbonate reservoirs rock typing plays a pivotal role in the construction of reservoir static models and volumetric calculations. The procedure for rock type determination starts with the determination of depositional and diagenetic rock types through petrographic studies of the thin sections prepared from core plugs and cuttings. In the second step of rock typing study, electrofacies are deter...

Petrophysical Characterization of Permian Shallow-Water Dolostone

The complex interplay between depositional facies and diagenesis in dolostones presents numerous challenges for calculating petrophysical properties from wireline logs. Complex pore geometries and mineralogies control rock petrophysical properties, and equations for calculating porosities and saturations must therefore be tailored to specific pore geometry-mineralogy combinations. The complex m...
